Beginning with a brief history of Ankara fabric, Batik prints and block-printing in Africa and the technological advances within printing today, this workshop we will combine Traditional African Block-printing techniques with a bit of history! Each guest will experiment with block printing in order to create their own fabrics that they can take home.

During this workshop we will combine Traditional African Block-printing techniques with a bit of history!

Each student will experiment with block-printing in order to create their own fabrics that they can take home. This workshop requires large squares of 12x12 cotton fabric (and cotton tote bags, cotton head wrap fabric and more) as well as fabric paint and other dye-related products. 

Each participant will need to register online and pay the registration fee ahead of time to secure their spot.

We will begin with a brief history of Ankara fabric, Batik prints and block-printing in Africa and the technological advances within printing today. Then we will head to the printing stations and start printing. The class comes with one 12x12 fabric square for printing that each student can take home and for the tote bags, head scarves, etc an additional fee will be required.

Food and Drinks will be provided.
